I just got a 110 100th anniv. ed. and want to get it converted to automatic. Does anyone know where I can send it to get it done right<

This subject comes up occasionally on this forum and I think that if you do a search over the past year or so you will probably find a few such occurances.

I note that you became a BF member yesterday, so, welcome to BF and to the Buck Forum. Someone from Buck Knives may post a more definitive and official reply when it comes to their attention but I will try to address your question unofficially drawing on my experience with Buck Knives and what I have gleaned from previous posts on the subject. The following is for information only. I hope that you take it in the positive spirit in which it is offered.

I can certainly understand how you might think that this is the logical place to post your question but I must tell you that Buck Knives wants absolutely nothing to do with automatic knives will have nothing to do with them. Any such conversion that you may see has been so converted in violation of both their warranty and their long standing and highly vocal policy.

Buck Knives has devoted great time, effort and resources to further the cause of the recognition of knives as one of the great essential basic tools of civilization and the furtherance of public and legislative acceptance of this vision. In this effort they have been in the vanguard of the the crusade of the industry to give proper emphasis to this view and also to properly downplay the efforts of other interests who characterize knives only as weapons.

Buck Knives was a charter member of the influential American Knive and Tool Institute, an industry organization which seeks to protect our right to own, carry and use knives. It is a huge public relations job to effectively represent this message and the issue of automatic knives is an enormous hinderance to this effort and though they are aware that some third parties make these conversions Buck Knives has no connection to them and does not support the conversion in any way. There is no way to sugarcoat it - automatic knives, rightly or wrongly, are usually considered negatively by much of the public and many of their legislative representatives.

Please do not take this the wrong way. It's great to have you here and we'll look forward to your participation. :)

Mate, I'll agree 100% with Wray here. First .....welcome
enjoy your stay and re-think your desire for an automatic
knife of any kind. All the spring does is add to the toy factor.

I can't think of anyother knife that will buy as much grief as
an auto while not being worth the effort. Making a 110 into an
auto doesn't make it a better knife at all.

A good old fashioned one hander is way more fun.
