My dad has an old Buck 110 that has a factory convex edge. I was wondering if this was an intentional thing, and if it would be worth money for being a rare thing. I don't know what steel it's made with, but I do know it is at least 1990 or older. Anybody know anything helpful?

Problem is that I know everything but the year (and steel). There are no special markings or unique features from a current 110, so pretty much all I have to work with is the convex edge, and knowing it can't be newer than 1990.

I don't understand how it can pre-date 1990 and be marked the same as current production

I'll have to give it a good look-over tomorrow. Eventually take and post some pics of it. This knife really has me curious.

AFAIK, early bucks were a thicker hollow ground blade of 440c and convex sharpened. I believe it was after their edge testing that the blade geometry changed.

If your asking directly about the convex edge then that's simply for cutting performance. FYI, we have a buck sub forum.

Older 110s had a factory convex edge - nothing rare or collectible about the edge per se, though older 110s in really clean condition can be worth some money.
