Which of the two are a more darker brown color? I can't decide which one I want. It's going to be an EDC. And why does Buck no longer include the Damascus blade as an option at their custom shop anymore?

I find the sambar stag darker, and as far as i know the damascus is a little hard to find from a supplier?Maybe they decided it was too expensive, not sure on this one but somebody in the know will surely help us out!

Hey Homey...
Here is a pic of a 110NS Stainless Damascus Sambar.
Got this one in 2006 and also have a 2007 with Koa wood.
Call and ask if they have any of the blanks left. That's what us homies here did :)
Be certain to ask for the "Custom Shop" when you call.

Darn, Goose, why did you have to show me that 'Dam Stag' 110? Now I gotta save up for another knife! :p;)

Good choice. Apparently, the Sambar Stag is a harder material than the Elk.

Goose,
You just have to go and show off don't you! I got to say that is one of the sweetest looking 110's I've ever seen. You really lucked out when you scored that damascus.
Mike

Just ordered one of these; BG-42, and Stag handle. can't wait! Been awhile since I had a 110.

Thanks Mike and Dave :)
I'm a lucky buck. And I agree, my "good taste" is reflected by the company I keep here with all you BBF genetlemen ;)

...We all know the gooser's spellin' sometimes deviates from the "norm"... I hope...:eek::p

Beautiful 110's!
:)
I'm figuring on ordering a custom 110 soon. probably BG-42 blade, nickel pins and bolsters, finger grooved with brown elk horn panels.
But before i pull the trigger are horn and stag panels usually the same rough dimensions (thickness) as the wood panels?
I really prefer the stag/bone panels to be roughly the same thickness of the wood panels, or at least not too much thicker/bigger.
Any body have any thickness pics of their custom stag/bone 110's?

I find too thick grips can be an annoyance.
I have a 5 blades Coleman sowbelly with nice stag panels but they are substantially thicker than wood panels wood be.
The knife feels fine in the hand but the thickness of the stag makes it awkward to make/find a sheath that will fit.

I just looked and my elk horn is probably 1/16" thicker than my wood handled 110"s. Feels fine to me, but each to his own.

1/16 would be fine with me.
I just checked my Stag Sowbelly.
The stag is 5/16ths taller than the bolster!
Like i said comfortable in the hand but hard to find/make a sheath for.
