Buck 110 Custom Shop question

Okay, so, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 110 from the Buck Custom Shop, and I've got a bit of an idea what I want, but I have a question first. I know I'm going S30V plain edge, indigo scales, probably nickel bolsters(not totally certain here but leaning that way...if anyone has a pic of indigo and brass I'd like to see it), but am undecided on rivets. So, my question is, IF I decide against them, am I likely to have any issues with the scales staying attached, or are they plenty secure even without the rivets? I may get rivets regardless, but I just want to know if I do decide against them is it likely to lead to any issues. Also undecided on finger grooves so if you wanna chime in your opinions on that as well, I wouldn't mind hearing em(am kinda leaning towards them but again, not certain)... And I will also be shelling out the extra $5 for the leather sheath, no engraving though.

I asked the same question for my first Buck Custom and was told the rivets do not make a difference. The cool thing is you can decide by playing on the site and looking at the knife you want. I just got a S30V blade, Cherrywood with NS Bolsters yesterday in the mail. I think NS would look better with the indigo myself I have been thinking of getting one too. The custom shop does a great job and you will love the knife. I have two custom 110's from Buck total now and want many more.

No brass but here is my Custom shop 110 that is similar to what you're looking at ordering:

I went with the indigo scales with rivets and fingergrooves, nickle bolsters and partially serrated S30v blade. Love the knife.

Good to know about the rivets. I don't know rather I'll go with them or not, but it's nice to know if I decide against it I shouldn't have anything to worry about. I spent awhile playing on the site and just can't quite make up my mind on some of the choices. The indigo is a definite for me(it worked out well that my favorite choice is also the cheapest, heh). I'd still like to see a real picture of one with brass though, just to see more what it looks like in a real world setting. I am leaning towards NS, but if I see a pic of one in brass and it blows me away, well, I could lean the other way, lol.

Badhammer, I'd seen your pic before actually when I googled images of Buck 110 indigo since I wanted to see a real photo of the color rather than just playing on the custom shop. Your picture is actually why I only needed pics of it with brass, I already had seen your pics of it with NS(and they were perfect, didn't even need to look at anyone else's!), just couldn't find a decent pic of it with brass bolsters, lol. Guess most people seem to go with NS on indigo...I suspect I will be as well.

Buck has this really really really good warranty on what ever you go with.

Did you build one in the custom shop site?? That works pretty good.

Yeah, but I prefer "real world" pics to really see what something looks like in it's final form(I've been disappointed in the past with things that didn't look as good once I got them in hand as they did on manufacturer/vendor sites). Badhammer's pics above are just about perfect for seeing one with NS, just wanted to see if someone had a comparable pic of indigo+brass for comparison. The Custom Shop builder thing is really nice though.

DShiflet,

I realize this isn't a 110 and the indigo isn't quite like that used by Buck but I borrowed this photo from a google search.

It might give you some idea of what a brass and indigo 110 would look like. Just my opinion and I'm in no way disparaging the knife in the photo but I think you'll see why indigo and nickle seems to be the combo that most everyone goes with. Brass works great with a lot of scale materials but IMHO not all scale materials. Hope this helps.

I am not much into bright colored wood laminate knife scales. Light grey was my limit... But a Custom shop offering of sports team color might be a good selling point for Buck, but then again we don't want them to get too busy and slow down production. Catch 22. 300

I have the exact knife your considering but no pic.
CS 110 with finger grooves, rivets, plain S30v, indigo/nickel silver and brown leather sheath.
I can tell you that the indigo/nickel silver combo looks great.
However, mine has tarnished quite a bit from use, so it doesn't stay bright n shiny for long unless you plan to keep it unused (not recommended).

Well, nobody has posted one with brass to convince me to lean that way, so I've decided to go with the NS. In case I wasn't already convinced, I had a friend of mine look at the custom shop design thing, and asked them to design what they would think would be the perfect choice for me. She played around for awhile, and this is what SHE thought would be my perfect knife out of the options presented-110, S30V plain edged, nickel, rivets, finger grooves. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking, so that convinced me, heh. I get paid this Thursday, so I'll be placing my order for it and a 119 Special, so I'll have me a nice pair of Bucks. Mine's not likely to be used much though, I just want it for the style and the history behind the knives. I don't like carrying anything larger than an SAK in my pocket without a clip, and I really need something I can easily open 1 handed, so thumbstuds/flipper/opening hole are more what I need for a knife I carry. Plus my work doesn't like knives worn on the belt(pocket clip is fine), which rules out the 110 as much of a user for me...
