Hello All,

I have begun to capture Buck 110 data from that place near the bay.:D
I have created an EXCEL spreadsheet that lists the knife, the date sold, the selling price, the Seller, the item number, and the link to view the knife.
I have found this data to be useful when viewing similar knives at that place near the bay. :) Since I have the time and the inclination to collect this data, (since I am so anal retentive:eek: )I thought I would check to see if anyone else might be interested in having it as well.
Since I cannot post an attachment with this thread, send me an email if you would like to view what I have collected to date and I will send the spreadsheet back to you.:D :D

Hi Harry,

You are to funny my man!!!! I have been doing the same thing....But, I printed out the first one from each knife and the watched similar knife auctions end and recorded the auction number, date, amount sold for, who sold it, shipping. I still watch them but have not been recording the data for the last few months.

jb4570,

You rascal! :D I saw you on a bidder's list for an older 110. I will email you to ask you some questions about it. Did you see that older Version 1 out there?
First time I have ever seen one so it was really neat to see what one actually looked like back then. :) Frankly speaking I prefer today's version.

Messy, send me your mail and I will send to you what I have collected to date.

Here's a picture of my first version and I agree. I prefer a later version.

Specifically, my favorite 110 was the fifth version from the mid 70's as seen below.

Thanks HOE. Email sent (again). Not sure if the email function is working right now?? It seemed kinda weird.

Hi HOE3...AKA Harry,
Yep I bid on a few of the older LE's and Custom jobs :) and won!!!!! I did see that 1st edition 110....I know it's out of my price range. I think Mike's got the best 1st edition thats in the states anyway.....I'll just look at his pics and dream.

My only 110 is one I bought new in 1972. Mike, can you tell me why you prefer that vintage?
Well, I really prefer the squared edged 110's as well as the ebony scales. Additionally, this version seems to be just the right size. The later versions got bigger, which I believe prompted the rounding of the edges and ultimately today's version. I have several of these and use them or plan to have them customized. You may have noticed that the one I show is a three line inverted stamp 110 which is pretty rare.

yep i seen that inverted ...
i also like the 70's versons but that is mainly for the ebony
and that the baldes did not click on snaping closed..
action felt/worked diffrently some how...
for some mods on todays ...
oval frame on a cross section or
thiner frame by at least 1/16
longer blade also is what i want...
also larger brass so hard edge of blade at lock dont show closed...
oh yea HOE i also did that some a year ago but could not keep up and yes i would like to see what you got ! email sent!

All,

This discussion brings me to a question about the data I am collecting (and will be sharing with all who have emailed me) on 110s. I have NOT included any standard 110 with or without the finger guides, whether NEW or older versions. I am just tracking limited editions and modified 110s. My thinking was that I will always know what a standard issue 110 will cost and where to get one if needed (ie Wally world or wherever). As far as the "vintage" standard 110s I am not tracking them either because right now I have no interest in purchasing one. But it has occured to me that there are those of you out there that ARE very much interested in the vintage 110s and might want them included. There is currently a Version 1 on that place by the bay that is running at $400:eek: last time I looked. Now THAT IS interesting as I have no understanding of the value of these early generation 110s and am eager to learn more as I fine tune my collecting skills. For those of you who care about this, please let me know if I should continue collecting data as I am, or should I try to also include all 110s that I find regardless of age?:D

Mike K.

That 70s version you shared sure looks NICE and in great condition.:D
What value or range of value would that knife bring in today's market?
I know that nothing has value unless someone wants it but I gotta believe there are more than a few of us that would love to get our mitts on that knife! :) :) What about 110s made in the 60's? Are they around anywhere?

Thanks, Mike. You're making me curious - I need to check mine and compare the stamp. :D

The 1st version 110 would be a bargain at $400 and if it's in good condition is probably worth another $150 on top of that...more if the box is included and in good condition. The 3 line inverted fifth version 110 that I showed I believe should fetch around $150, but then again who knows. I've never seen one up for bid on ebay. A regular fifth version 110 should be worth around $75. If someone else has a better estimate please feel free to correct me.

Hello All!

My email system crashed today and I have lost all the mail from those of you who requested I send you my 110 database!
I apologise for the inconvenience and ask that you re-send me mail to hoe3@sbcglobal.net and I will send you the EXCEL spreadsheet.:D
Now I have to go figure out what kind of gremlin I have in my computer!

So, mine is three lines: Buck | 110 | USA but the other end up. Which version would that make it?

A three-line Buck 110 read with the tip pointed up is a fifth version, 3rd variation, running from 1972 to 1974. The 2nd variation, three line inverted 110 (read with tip facing down) was only made for a short perion of time in 1972. the first variation didn't have the model number, just Buck and USA read tip down.

Thanks Mike! Glad that agrees with my memory, which is that I bought it in '72. It spent a number of summers with me at camp. It's one of those never-sell things.
