Does anyone know when it started. The earliest I know of is the 110 with the 426 blade from the custom shop in 1984. Any earlier?

I enjoy the clip and drop point 110's. I'm waiting for the 110 auto in drop point. I think I remember seeing a pic of one or two.

We may as well show some pics for the lesson. ITE to dig out my AK drop point so here is an indigo(soon to be rams horn) 110 dp.

Yes, the first drop point blades were the 426's in 84. Then Buck brought one out with the Selector in 91 or 92. There were more of these made available. Then the Buck Collectors offered one with s30v steel in about 2004 or 2005. This was when people took notice and clamored for more. DM

Some observations, I have always preferred a drop point and recently got 111 with a 426 blade in it. I have noticed that the new drop points dont flow with the arch of the spine as the 426 blade does. In otherwords the new ones are kicked up looking, and im not real keen on that. The new ones also have more belly which will probably give more wear, but I do much prefer the ole 426 blade.
None the less i will still take it over the clip.

There was this set(might not have been in a set) offer by BCCI, I'm not sure when, might have been after the one David M. mentions. Preston

I have one drop point 110. I tried to carry it, but I kept cutting myself with it. I think after carrying a standard blade for so long. It was awkward? IDK. But I finally gave up on it.

I liked the way it looked but missed the fine point.

pjsjr pjsjr , that is a handsome set.
eveled, each blade style has it's place. I like carrying a drop point but when I'm cleaning fish or digging splinters out, I retrieve my 110 with
a clip point. For those cutting chores it works better. DM

pjsjr - Those stag FGs are some of the best looking Buck knives I've seen. If I was going to custom order a 110 & 112 set, that would be it.

I like both styles of the drop points. The clip blade is a totally different looking blade ,but I find both perform very much identical on the same jobs.I have recently acquired a drop point "fox" 110 with orange handles and love the drop point more and more .I had one of the earlier drop points but it went missing years ago .Still miss it
