Buck 110 "ecolite?"

Hey guys, I was looking at getting a new knife recently, because I lost my current EDC knife(Kershaw Volt 2) but nowhere local has anything I'm super interested in for pocket carry. I was thinking of buying a Buck 110 ecolite, and modifying the handles by taking off the current scales and replacing them with some custom G10 scales. Is it possible to do this and still have a functioning 110? Also, are there steel liners on the knife?

There are steel liners but they have been cut out to save weight. If you can peen pins, you can re-scale it, in my estimation. Haven't tried it. By the way, ask in the Buck forum, lots of experts there.
