Can one of you guys tell more about this 110? Great shape found at swap meet.

73-74?
I know there is a variation (4?) with the rear rivet placement and pretty sure it's in these years.
Plus there is an upside down three line variation.

I believe old Bert has it. 5th version, var. 3. The last of the forged brass frame. The cut off date with this model and the 2 dots are disagreed on. Some collectors say this version ended in 74. Others say 75, even late 75. But it is agreed on that the 2 dots had the sintered brass frame. DM

That's right, David, but the 2 dots weren't the first 110s with a sintered frame. Between the 5th Version, Variation 3 and the first 2 Dot there were some knives that had the 5th Version, Variation 3 blade and a sintered frame. The change to the 2 Dots required a change in the shape of the end of the tang and a new design for the lockbar.

Reading in my notes... From a different sheet. The sintered brass frame came in 74. So, I guess it is possible to have this stamping with either a forged OR sintered brass frame. DM

Mak, you should use a magnifier and check for a felt liner. This would really nail a time on it. DM

We want to give you your monies worth, a good, accurate assessment. The sheath is correct. Some leather treatment would help it.
I see a felt paper liner between the frame and wood handles. Which means you have a forged frame 110. Before the sintered brass frames.
So, probably closer to 73. Thanks for the help, DM

Thank you guys. Much appreciated . Spa service next week. Pictures before then after

Is that glue? It would not be a good job if it is. It is too even so I think I would agree with David that it looks more like very old liner. However, it could be glue, but I have never seen one of these older 110s that had glue coming out like that. On the other hand, I was not aware the 110 ever had a liner. It is hard to be sure without seeing a better shot of it all around.
