Buck 110 leather sheath?

What weight leather should I get from Tandy Leather? Is belly leather suitable?

I know ... I should probably just buy a leather sheath from Buck, but I want to try and make one first. I've not played with leather since the 8th or 9th grade.

Well, I just answered your email on another subject. I believe I would use from 6oz up to a max of about 8oz. It will wet mold fairly easily and will not be hard to hand stitch, and should be plenty heavy enough to withstand some hard use.

I would recommend you stay as far away as possible from belly leather for nearly all projects. It just has too many inherent problems.
