I was thinking about it today, cause I happen to be carrying one of the Walmart Buck 110 LT with the large logo and was wondering if anyone one knew exactly why they are different. I know the different logos have been discussed but Im not sure anyone has mentioned WHY they're different.

Did Walmart request them to be different? Did they request the larger logo? Or was it a decision on Buck's end to make the different logos? Seems like just an extra step have to make and produce two different handles.

I think most of us prefer the small logo, but you can't beat a US made Buck 110 for $15.

Walmart wants things for them sometimes. so their purchasing will ask for runs a certain way. there was a walmart/sams purchasing fella who used to participate here and he gave some insight into how it worked. course Jeff at Buck could too.

I figured that might have been it, but it seems an odd request to want buck to make their logo bigger? I wonder if maybe it was buck wanting people who buy it from Walmart to REALLY associate the name Buck with the knife.

thats possible, but from Bucks standpoint new molds cost them more. doubt walmart would pay more. think its more likely walmart wanted their own version, so people want it they have to buy from there. I dont know I'm speculating though. its too bad the walmart/sams club buyer guy hasn't been here for awhile. he might have said why, if he was allowed to of course. if ya hunt threads he commented on the walmart mesa and some other models in the past and gave some insight into how it happened.

I'll have to go find those threads, sounds interesting. I'm crossing my fingers I'll get an official answer, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Two other 110 LTs, with handle pattern variations, that come to mind are the "Racer" version and orange "Topographic" pattern. I believe the Racer was limited to 800 pieces and the number of orange hasn't been made public. So Buck wasn't too reluctant to pay for new molds back when the LTs first arrived on the scene. I'd like to see some similar variations in the 112 LT line.

We give Walmart version that are not the same as other retail versions so that other dealers are not competing with Wally on the same configurations. The mold is set-up so that we can change the logo area to support different projects.

Thanks for the response. If I am ask another follow up question then, I'm not aware of any other different logos have any been made?

He was promoted and transferred to the Sam's Club side and didn't/doesn't have anything to do with the knife/sporting goods orders anymore ... heck that was what? 2014? 2015? when he was "promoted" and transferred?
Soon after the white handle made in USA 877, at any rate. (877 since dropped from production :( )
Who knows if he is still employed by that company or if he retired.
