So I know to squeeze the regular 110 with bolsters in a vice or use a hammer with a towel to remove blade play. Well, my best friend gave me a buck 110 lite as a birthday gift and after a good sharpening, stropping, and general use around the house, it has up/down and side/side play. I’d love to fix this one since he gave it to me and he’s drawing up a design to etch it. Since it’s a peened pivot, can I just use a ball peen hammer and a punch to tighten it? Any photo tutorials, links to videos, or crayon and construction paper style explanations are extremely appreciated!

Well, honestly I don’t expect them to do anything about a knife costing $18.

Doesn't matter the cost, they take care of it. They are pretty active on the forum and have earned a good reputation. I would give them a call in the morning.

I really don’t want to have to send it in and wait for months to get it back. I’d rather fix it myself

I can understand the frustration. By the time you pay shipping to send it in you would be in it at almost half the cost of the knife. I wish Buck would use screws on their knives where appropriate, these models in particular would be held together a lot better.

How much blade play are we talking? Slight up and down is a known issue for some lockbacks, they are still strong and wont fail. Due to the fact that its plastic there might be a minor side to side flex, I wouldn't mess with it if that were the case.

If it's really sloppy and loose then yeah, peen it. Be careful, if you overdo it there could be worse problems.

What kind of worse problems?

If you like the knife send it in. A little bit of money and hassle and you'll get a perfect knife back. Buck's cs is fantastic.

You can carefully tap it a bit, but honestly unless you can notice the blade play without purposefully checking for it I wouldn't worry.

A bit of blade play doesn't actually hurt anything on lockbacks , it's something that really only matters with regards to liner locks and such.

Thank you everyone who advised, its much appreciated! I took it outside and gently set a flathead screwdriver on it and smacked it with a hammer a couple of times on each side. It did the trick!! Still a little up/down, but like y’all said, that’s not an issue. The best part is....no more side/side!!!! Y’all have a wonderful day!
