Hi,

I think this is a 110. It has an inverted stamp and reads Buck USA. Cost is $45. Does this seem like a good purchase
to anyone?
Thanks!

Dear 2TONYB :

The first question was about a larger question. I hope it is ok to ask you. I am looking to buy a Buck 112 for my daugter's boyfriend who just came back from Afghanistan.
I bought a NIB with papers two-dot. Then I discovered that the three dot made a finger groove in 1980 and only for one year. So then I started looking for that.
I also bought a four-dot. Don't ask me why. I don't remember.
The two dot is really nice but it is heavy and has the older blade. Reading more, it seemed like a lot of people do not like that blade.
I probably should have just bought a new one, but I got into researching it and have had fun with that.
So here is my question -- should I give him the two dot that I bought ($58) or keep trying for a three dot or just buy a new one?
Finally, what about engraving? If I did that, could it be on the top of the knife and not on the blade or the bolster?
Thanks for your help!
Gail

It looks like you made a good buy to me. That could be cleaned up nicely and the sheath looks to be in good shape. The old 110's AND the older sheaths are my favorites!!:thumbup:

I like two dot 110's and think you made a good choice. Send it in to Buck and they can clean it up nicely for you. DM

I decided to buy it. Anyone with feedback would be welcome!

So which did you buy? New? To me, you're not really going wrong with any 110. The 2 dots are quite popular as you are getting 440C which some people really prefer.
Sounds like you are on the right track to buy multiple vintage 110s! You may also want to try a Bass Pro 110 (discontinued). It's one of my favorites with CPM 154 steel.
I would have replied earlier, but between hunting and working, I have no time...not even for sleep!

Hi 2TONYB

I bought the vintage 110 with inverted Buck USA. It looks good and is the correct length so has not been oversharpened.

Thanks for helping out!

Hunting, huh? That must be a nice addition to work. No hunting here, SF Bay Area.
Thanks again
