I find myself wanting and old school lock-back made in the US of A.
I'm torn between the Buck 110 and the 112 neither finger grooved and I can't buy both because of the wonderful economy were in.
All I really want is personal opinion and some good old fashioned user feed back.
Thanks-Andrew

The 110 is a classic, but don't forget how BIG it is. As great a knife as it is, for me the 112 is more useful.

welcome to blade forums, there is a great group of people here who can probably steer you in the right direction.

i will say there is a Buck forum in the manufactures section where you might find more advice.

also political commentary outside of political might get you thrown in the slam;):D

neither...Case Sharktooth... :D

The 110 is a classic and a great knife. However, even though I have big hands, the 112 fits my hand like it was made just for me...
It is probably the most comfortable non-slipjoint style knife I have ever held.

The 112 is still big enough to handle any task you would throw at a folder.

I do have a 110 with finger grooves though, and it is very comfortable.
I just don't have a need for a folder that big, and it almost feels awkward.

The older Bucks are going to feel quite a bit different than the later production models though, because the early models don't have radiused edges. IMHO, the radiused edges make either one more comfortable.

Whichever you decide to buy, it will serve you for many years. Buck is a great family owned company that cares about its customers.

YMMV

Aside from the size, you have to consider the weight.
Both of these are fairly heavy knives.
As others have said, the 112 just seems to fit my hand better.

Folks here know there stuff and are helpful, but I would go over to the Buck forum where they have several threads going on the 110/112s and the new model 'Eco-lites' with photos for checking out.

A 112 will be better for pocket carry. But I have made a back pocket sheath for my 110 and that works well. Mostly though, I carry my 110 in a belt sheath of my own design. I have both, and I carry a finger groove 110 that was re-bladed back when that was an option from Buck. I've tried others, including the 112, but I always come back to that particular 110. It does everything I need and I just prefer it to all others. Of course, that doesn't stop me from buying others!

I had the same thoughts about size and weight and the comments about finger grooves are making them grow on me...Hmmm, I think I'll take your guy's advice and bring this to the buck forum.

I learned that quick ;)
Gotta message about it not 10 minutes after the post.
Sorry I'll try and get the rules down a lil better from now on :D
And can someone post a link to the buck forum? I haven't even remotely grasped how to navigate here :)

I love my Buck 110's. Big is good to me. I just never notice the weight difference between the 110 and 112. But I appreciate the larger 110 every time I use it...:D:thumbup:

At the top of the page there is a listing for manufacturers. Click on it and all the companies are listed alphabetically. Scroll down a little and you will see Buck.
Great s/f with lots of knowledgable folks there. Plus, CJ Buck himself pops in once in awhile.

As others have said, both are classic and well made. But for the most part the 112 is gonna handle everything you throw at it. The only time I appreciated the 110 over the 112 was when workin' with gloves, otherwise the 112 feels perfect.

Whichever you decide to get now, if you sick around you'll buy the other one too :D

I prefer my 112 over my 110 for most uses, but the 110 is more handy if you're out camping or if you're working in the cold with gloves on.

But really, I'm hankering for a Case Shark's Tooth as well (the older one with the rounded bolsters..... mmmmmmmmm).
