I'm not quite sure on which i should get. I've allways like the look of the 110
and the shape. But the sak seems soo apealing too.
Now, i'll only be using one of these for small everyday chores, and will it would be carried on the belt.
Also I carry a mutlitool, so im not worried about having the sak's tools. But its the blade that interests me.
So which do you guys think would be the better purchase?
They'll both be used mainly for their blades(but the extra sak tools may come in handy)

thanks everyone

Which SAK are you considering?

I've got an old side button locker with a 3.2 inch blade that has done well.

Whereas the 110 will be better for heavier tasks.

Ditto on the 110. I find it too heavy for pocket carry but on the belt it would be fine. The 110 and a multi tool give you a broad range of applications, A SAK and a multi tool is redundant IMHO.

How good a blade is on the multi-tool (MT)?

If you have a decent blade for small tasks on the MT, then the 110 is tops.

But if the MT does not have a knife good blade, the SAK might do you better. I find a 110 is sometimes too much blade. I usually find more small work than big work, so I find a good smaller blade more useful that a bigger blade.

Get the 110 if you're already carrying a multi. Better yet, think about the 112 Ranger. It's enough Buck and handier to carry.

I would say the 110! but I just happen to like mine

thanks for the input guys, well I ventured out to wally world and my brother bought me a leatherman wave(early christmas gift) I am very impressed with the blade and tools on the wave, also being able to open the blade and not the tool is an awsome feature, I believe this will be the new edc for a while

Also, when I went to wally's the 110 was sold out and the ranger was just to small for me (I have large hands) And no sheath :(
so mabye next payday I can purchase my self a 110.

again, thanks for the answers all

Bass Pro here has the 110 for 19.88... i think it's like $10 cheaper than Wal-Mart

not sure if you have one nearby though

i like having a dedicated folder in addition to the multi-tool, but for a long time i just carried a Wave and a Swisschamp

you'd be surprised how often i've needed both of them at the same time

now i carry the 'Champ, a Charge Ti and a folder clipped to my pocket

my only gripe with the 110 is that it's not that easy to deploy, and doesn't open with one hand. for about the same price or less you can get a Kabar-Dozier folding hunter and clip it to your pocket

The blade on the wave (I carry one everyday, paired with a Manix) do a fine job with most cutting tasks an I use it all the time.

I like to have the stout folder for the tougher jobs and also for food, I keep that blade much cleaner for just that reason.

sounds like a plan, i think in the near future i'll pick up a sak rucksack, with the locking blade. I'd like to get some thing more expensive, but myself and probably many of you know how fast you change your edc, I had a leatherman blast and a geber ar 3.0 that I carried for about a month, then like I said my brother bought the wave, and I was thinking of a dedicated folder, of some sort.

such an expensive hobbie, but I can't live with out'em

my only gripe with the 110 is that it's not that easy to deploy, and doesn't open with one hand.

I respectfully disagree. A clean, oiled and broken-in 110 can be opened either with a thumb and flick of the wrist, or by grasping the spine between thumb and forefinger and snapping the handle down into the palm. Either way, it just requires some practice... both to get the technique down and so that repitition polishes the inner surfaces of the knife. The knife definitely does not need to be "loose" to accomplish this, as I've heard.

Having said that, a modern liner-lock with a thumbstud is faster and easier, no question.

As to the original question, I would choose a Buck to go with a multi-tool, every time. The Leatherman and Buck, and maybe a small LED flashlight should get you through just about any daily task. I'm just not an SAK fan, they seem to be such a compromise every step of the way.

If you have a multi-tool already, go with the 110. If you only want one tool to do it all, go with an SAK.

IMO, the 110 would be better if you already have a multitool.

Yep.

It's a bit heavy, but that's never deterred me from dropping it into my back pocket or slipping on the belt sheath.
My 110 gets more pocket time than any other folder I own (Benchmades, Spydercos, Emersons, Kershaws, Queens, Cases, Schatts, MooreMakers, blah blah blah).
In other words, I have many higher-tech, higher-priced, over-engineered, and many would say higher-quality edged tools. The Buck 110, however, holds the throne.
Can't wait to get a nickel silver-bolstered 110 in stag (or maybe buffalo.... Crap! Now I hafta get two more!!!). :D

ok, it doesn't open as easily with one hand ;)

i like the 110 ok, it's just a tad bulky, and i like a pocket clip

but back to the original question, how about a 110 and Vic Classic? i think that covers a lot of what the Leatherman doesn't have that a SAK would

what SAK were you considering, anyway?

Well if it's down to the "must have both" stage (bound to happen... :D ), my recommendation for a SAK to go with your 110 would be...
Camper - for the saw
Climber - for the scissors (although, you could go with one of the smaller 58mm models if you want it mainly for the scissors)
Huntsman - has both full-size scissors and saw
