so i had some side to side blade play in my work knife that i was a bit concerned about. despite my better judgement i opted to hit the the bolster with a hammer inside a phone book...problem solved. however the pivot pin is now not entirely flush on one side, its barely noticeable but does pop out enough that i can feel it a bit.

my question is, is there a way to flush it up again? or should it still be funtional as is? it dosent bother me too much but now im worried its not going to be as solid. i probably should have sent back to buck instead of trying to fix it myself but its the only work knife i have out here in the sticks, and i really cant be without it atm. thanks for the help!

Order a new one from the big online retailer, and when it comes in, send the old one back to Buck, and when you get it back, it will be like new again. Then you will have a spare to use, and then have two great knives to pass on to your offspring, or Grandkids. Great choice of EDC by the way.

I think what you did was fine, that's a common fix. Many would then take a small punch and peen over the end of the exposed pin a bit (support the backside of the pin on an anvil of some sort) then carefully sand it down flush. Use a FLAT sanding block, work with care, don't start too coarse and finish it off with some fine 800-1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper. You probably won't be able to tell anything was done.

I would have never done it that way. Use a vise or send it in to Buck. Blue Sky's method should fix it. DM
