i have a buck 110 that i have only carried maybe 3 times - today i noticed that when it is closed, the blade rocks back and forth in the handle (closed blade play, i guess you could call it)- i have another one that does not do this - and i looked at a friend's 110 (older than mine ) and his also does this , but not as bad - when mine is open it has just a hair of blade play , nothing major ( so does my friend's) - but my other one does not - is this normal for 110's ? should i be worried and send it in to buck ? - or is this common ? - i have had 110's and 112's in the past and never noticed this, but i used to not really care or look too close at things like this- thanks for any help or comments - marc

I don't see why it would be a problem. It's not designed to lock into place when it's closed so the blade rock shouldn't really matter. I believe the slight vertical play when it's opened is fairly common to lockbacks in general. Some find it unacceptable but I don't believe it is cause for concern unless it gets worse.

Play when open is the only thing I pay attention to. Closed, as long as it isn't so loose it rattles around (unlikely) I wouldn't worry about it at all. Slight play when open, also not an issue.

thanks for the replies - guess i wont worry about it - unless something starts going really wrong - thanks - it just seems strange that i dont think it had this when i first got it - and like i said , i only carried it a few times , but in an aftermarket handmade leather sheath , maybe the sheath put some pressure on the blade , i did leave it in the sheath for a while after carrying it , although i know you should not do that - the brass got kind of tarnished , but you cant stop that anyway after a while.

yes,,,nothing to worry about. As long as it locks up tight when open. I have a box full of old 110's laying here in the floor that do that. Some more wiggle than others.
But they lock up tight. A 112 minty laying here does the same thing.
Check your other knives, I bet they do it as well.
