Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm currently designing a pocket knife, I studied the buck 110 to understand how the back lock mechanism works and how a pocket blade is made in general, however there's a thing I can't get to understand about this knife and that is:

Where are the rivets?

I've looked lots of pictures of the buck 110 around the internet, and saw a video on youtube about how it was made, but I can't see where's the rivet of the blade (the one that alows it to rotate and should be at the top side of the knife) and where are the two rivets that belong to the spring spring bar part (the ones at the bottom of the knife), every picture I've seen of the buck 110 has two smooth metal extremes with no rivets, in fact the only ones I can see are in the center of the blade on the wood area, how can this be possible?

Because the rivets are made from the same kind of metal as the bolster. After it's is installed, it is ground and polished smooth. You have to look closely to see them.

O.B.

yep look closely for the pins...you will see them.

Because the pins and frame / bolsters are also brass and well polished so you can't see them.
When they get older and develop patina however the normally become visible.

You can just barely see the pins on mine in these 2 pictures here.

See the new Buck you can't see anything, the older Schrade you easily can.
