Buck 110 slim select vs Spyderco Tenacious.

Which one should I go for?

I got a lot of input and tips on an other similar thread where I asked about RAT I and the Grip, which won the poll. However, the Grip is to expensive so I found a couple of cheaper alternatives. I'm going to have it as a general outdoors knife and field dressing an occasional animal.

What is your hard upper limit? I mean it would seem to me you want the best blade steel for your budget. The knives you are comparing don't give me any indication of a particular style you like, so I'm also guessing you don't have those preferences yet?
 
I don’t know much about the spyderco tenacious or the 8cr… steel but I do know that the Buck 110 slim select is 🇺🇸 made and has the 420hc Bos heat treatment. I have a 110 slim select and it is a very capable knife for edc and some heavy work tasks.
My only complaint is the slim handle in heavy cutting can fatigue my hands but for general light to medium usage it is plenty good. Not that the knife can’t handle it but my arthritis hands can’t. For heavy cutting chores I prefer a thicker handle.
 
If you want cheap, the obvious answer is the Buck 110 Slim or the Rat 1. As between these 2, my choice would still be the Rat 1.

However, as between all of the choices offered in the 2 polls, I'd pick the blue FRN Tenacious in S35VN (especially if it's going to be used for hard, messy work) which would be about 2x's the price of the Buck 110 Slim and the Rat 1 but less than the Griptilian.

If the S35VN Tenacious is still too expensive for you, then a black FRN or G10 8Cr13Mov Tenacious should fine but still not as good a value IMO as a D2 Rat 1.

For the sake of the poll, I chose Buck.

I also stand by my comment on the previous thread and suggest the Ruike P801 in 14C28N for $30.

I just noticed the Buck 110 slim is being discontinued in some colors and can be found for $27 or so. Nothing wrong with that at all.
