My first post here, I am a long time Buck knife enthusiast, having owned several, the most notable being a 110 I bought with my first Navy pay check in 1979, it has been my constant companion in many adventures, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, etc.

I was in a pawn shop the other day and came across this Buck 110, it is laser etched/ carved on the wooden bolsters "Union Pacific Fuels", has anyone ever heard of one of these? It has a date code "+", from what I can find this places it at 1991 manufacture.

Is this rare, special or valuable? If not, I'll keep it as a spare....

Smith 547, welcome to the Buck part of the forum...

Lot of those knives were safety knives... No accidents in a year or 5 years and so on...

I'm sure someone will come along and say more about it... Any buck knife with

something on it's handle or blade or bolsters are always collectible...

Some are more sought after than others... If you collect Buck Knives put it

in your collection if you're not a collector use it... Its all up to you...

we all have users and we all collect knives to... I like your knife, I would

put it in my collection with my other train knives... Cool fine... ☆☆☆ ...

Smith tell us more about you... Fill out more of your profile, like where your from...

email address and so on... Were all Buck crazy here... :) ... ITE

It is possible that the "Fuels" version was done aftermarket. I will check the special projects list I have and see if it shows up. Please remember that while the Buck Knives company has produced many special project 110s with decorated blades and/or laser cut handles, there are many, many examples of post-factory work to be found. Short of knowing the definite facts, it can be very difficult to tell whether a particular project was done in the Buck factory.

I checked my 110 list and that knife didn't show up. My guess is that it was an aftermarket addition.

...And my findings concur with Bert after checking a special project list I have. I will say that my list is not 100% accurate and that errors are almost entirely those of omission. Some special projects have slipped by and did not get included.

Thanks for the replys, I guess I will keep it as a spare, maybe give it to my nephew when he gets older.
