I finished a Buck 110 a few hours ago with FLAWLESS light green jade scales.

It really is a great looking knife and is done with the new flush to the bolster style I am using on knives with thick bolsters such as the Buck 110.

I haven't decided if I am going to part with it or add it to my personal collection and get the bolsters engraved. Tough call when they turn out so nice. My personal collection just keeps getting bigger and bigger as I really have a hard time parting with ones that turn out this nice.

Thank you for sharing pics! That is a beautiful knife!

(neat tang stamp too) ;)

I see you also decided to not keep it ;) Good luck!

Quite a handsome looking knife!!!

What is Jade anyway??? It almost looks like the scales on that are translucent...Are there little thingies suspended in the Jade??? Is Jade like Amber???

Hmmm...Amber scales...

chickentrax - This jade is gemstone grade. It is used mostly for jewelry and it is translucent. This particular jade is a nephrite jade from British Columbia.

The term jade is applied to two different metamorphic rocks that are made up of different silicate minerals:

1) Nephrite jade, consists of a microcrystaline interlocking fibrous matrix of the calcium, magnesium-iron rich amphibole mineral series tremolite (calcium-magnesium)-ferroactinolite (Calcium-Magnesium-Iron). The middle member of this series with an intermediate composition is called actinolite (the silky fibrous mineral form is one form of asbestos). The higher the iron content the greener the color.

2) Jadeite, a rock consisting almost entirely of jadeite, a sodium- and aluminium-rich pyroxene. The gem form of the mineral is a microcrystaline interlocking crystal matrix.

Just saw a green bone knive selling on the bay that is a very knice nife but looks like a cheap imitation compared to yours.
