The scales on this knife are from a VERY rare one of a kind jasper found as a boulder in the Skokomish River in Wasington State. As it is a one of a kind stone I am calling it Skokomish River Flower Jasper. The boulder was about 20 to 24 inches across and contains several interesting sections with an agate band; a band with mostly yellow jasper with structures that look like yellow flowers with red centers and a section with a mix of agates and jaspers with a very unusual hemitite webbing. I did this knife to see how the stone polished and it is a WOW beautiful stone. I only was able to get a small amount of this one boulder and I have to make three custom knives for payment for the small amount I was able to get.

Beautiful looking scales! And fitted more skilfully than a lot of the Buck Custom Shop knives we see here... :p

What do you cut your stones with??? The initial cuts, I mean...I know nothing about gem finishing (and only a slight bit more about anything else)...

"Art in Stone" tells it all. Did some stone work many years ago so I appreciate what you do with your scales.

I really do appreciate the kind words about my works. I am just now getting to the point that my fit and finish meet my expectations. Thanks a bunch.... :)

Dave,

I only did one. The front bolster is not properly shaped for compatability with my grinding, sanding and polishing equipment. My smallest wheels are 6 inches in diameter. I pretty much had to "reprofile" the front bolster and I was not completely happy with the results.
