Let me make sure the OP hears what you guys are telling him.
REAL Buck 110s are made in Idaho at the factory. FAKE 110s can be stamped Buck, but may have 'odd' characteristics that might help you tell difference. Be sure you are buying a real USA 110 if you are buying from discount web site. An American company and the knife is stamped USA on the tang should be real. Make sure the package is a real Buck package also. They keep improving the 'look" of the overseas fakes so be aware of big discounts in price.
NEVER; if you ever tour the factory you will see why; they are literally produced in a circle of levels of final production and can be made in large numbers per day; no economics of cheap labor with a product that is a guaranteed sale in thousands each year; I can't even imagine the sales this 50th anniversary year!!
It is my understanding that no U.S. made models were ever made in China. All offshore production was/is for new models that had not been made here before.
110 is th all-american folder for a reason, never made elsewhere.
However, there are other popular knife companies that make 110 clones that are made outside of the US and are of much lesser quality, IMO. Also, there are fakes on the market. This is why I encourage people to buy direct from Buck or your local farm and fleet or reputable brick and mortar store unless you are very well versed in spotting fakes.
Does size matter? LOL I had to throw that in, Meaning where it stamped on the tang BUCK 110 U.S.A. I have seen so many lately varying in different sizes an boldness an weight thickness of the letters etc even the dots....some are micro and some are bold an clearly seen! the same with BUCK an U.S.A. some are definetly larger than others.
