Looking for some expertise on this knife because I'm even more clueless about it than normal. What's the worth analysis of this guy? And what's the right word for cementing dragons onto a perfectly good knife?

That is the work of Gary Gudnason of Ghostown Custom Knives. An example of his work below.

Um, if it's yours, and you don't want it, I'd be very happy to trade you a brand new plain Buck 110 for it 😁 .

If you go to Arizona Customs and do a search for "Ghostown" you will see what Mr. Gudnason's work sells for.

The knife below sold for $995.

Wait, forget what I said. Yeah, you're right, that thing is completely ruined, it's an abomination, an eyesore.

So how about that trade? 😁

What happened to the blade? I think it's an attractive effect but wonder about practical use.

The term for the surface pattern on the sides of the blade is called a "jeweled" finish. It's created by repeating a circular sanding/polishing process.

EDIT: Whoops, I see Arathol already answered your question.

Eh, not my style. It's a bit subtle perhaps;)
It's a 110. It's not like there aren't several million of them floating around to take artistic licence upon.

Gary Gudnason is deceased. So he won't be customizing any more knives. It appears to me that his knives with the relief carved bolsters are the rarest and most valuable. I'd wager that the dragon knife pictured might be his most valuable due to a combination of the amount of work (more than the one I posted) and the dragon motif (dragons being rather popular these days).

I saw the listing for it last night on the big auction site (appears to have been removed since), and the person selling it clearly didn't know what they had (they said they didn't know). I would have asked for twice what they were asking.

In the pictures on the auction site the word "Ghostown" was clearly visible on the edge of one of the bolsters (same on the one in my pics).

I kind of like the Guilloche patterning on the blade...surprised I've never seen this done before.
