Is this Ironwood? It looks more like the stanard laminated wood on the standard 110s.

Thanks!

better edit out the link or you will get an infraction

yes that looks like the standard scales

Thanks buckman. Link removed.

So what's the deal with the 111? Was it made with ironwood and standard laminated scales? A lot of the 111s being sold on eBay say ironwood handle material but they look like the standard stuff.

Also, do they all have a mirror finished blade?

I have seen several 111's on Ebay lately that are being described as "Ironwood" and are not.

I do have a LE in Ironwood but all the rest (despite how described) seem to be the std lam. birchwood.

they are in truth a build out type of knife..
many of the sellers of these fake "ironwood" 111 's will respond with
hostilities to you if you tell them that it is not iron wood!!
esp if it is the one from North Carolina there are two others that will tell you they dont know but what the dist. said..
one seller does post that it is a mistake and not iornwood and
once he did the 60 to 80 $ prices bid stopped!
why?
there was a error in assigning numbers ...
and the orgional distributor did not mark out the numbers as he should have,
and he knew they were marked wrong..!!!
orgional selling price on these from him to the ebay sellers was 29$
and he gave many sellers stock photo's of the real thing to use..
i wont post his name as i ...ugh.. forgot were i put it..

many times i wanted to email buyers that they did not get iron wood but
ebay said i would be banded for that..
no truth telling allowed!
i feel for any buyers that fell for this blatant dishonesty..

I thought the ironwood ones were $100, not 40-ish.

There are some sites listing them as ironwood, I figured it was just an error.

the real ironwood were custom stamped and i believe were over 140$ on sale!
but like so many things i am most likely off the mark again!
but seen some real ones sell on ebay for around 100$ on bad days.

Here is a regular and LE Ironwood 111 for your comparison TAH.

Another reason I'm just about done with ebay. Criminals, thieves, and are liars are protected there.

The guy selling the G10/BG-42's 110's (who seems to be a stand up guy) dropped me a line that he's off of ebay (moved to gunbroker) and out of paypal since they seized his cash for selling a pistol magazine that ebay didn't like.

Still angry about getting sold a knife I was told was warrantied to find out it isn't. ebay knows about these things but only wants to push their agenda.

Rant off.

Trax,

It is a natural imperfection in the ironwood that wasn't filled with sealer in the final finish. You'd think the LE's would get a closer inspection. I'm sure I could send it to Joe for a full face-lift.

Flat,

Thanks for the photo comparison. The ironwood scales sure are an upgrade. That's a beautiful knife!
