Just put a buck 112 on layaway till tomorrow. Its got one dot on each side of 112 I believe makes it a 1974-80 model. Squared handles and no nail nick. It saw it and it has green rust like spots on bolsters and handles but it figured id look at it. Turns out all the nasty green was candle wax on outside and inside too. Blade looks unsharpened and great shape. Lockup seemed great but with the wax in tang didn't have a loud snap also no blade wobble. Ill get wax off and see condition then send to buck for their spa treatment. I'll post pictures when I get it. I got it for $32. Gotta love pawn shops.

Not candle wax but verdigris.

That is one BEAUTIFUL 112!! It looks damn
near new. Forgive me, but as much as I love the SPA service, I'd forgo it for this knife. Hand polish it with Brasso and use Q-tips for the internals. When they polish in the SPA process, I've noticed there can be a VERY SMALL rounding of those hard 90° corners on the bolsters. Not always and hardly any, but it can happen. See what you do on your own, first.

Pics, too!! 😁

Thanks for that info! Didn't know that. After cleaning it up the lockup is solid and good loud snap open. I do think I'll work on this myself and see how it turns out. Thanks again

That's a good buy! Some folks think a 112 with no nail nick is extremely valuable or even a error..

Cool find and let us see the cleaned up version when you are done. Thanks for sharing.

A very cool find. Good job snatching it from the Pawn shop. It should clean up very nicely. Be sue to post a photo after it returns from the spa.

I think they use buffing wheels made of cotton etc. I’ve used them on beat up knives I bought on eBay. Metal looks new but it can easily round a hard angle edge.
