Sorry for the pix not being in order.

So last night i got the urge to do a blade swap. I was going to use a old square frame 2 dot i had, but i had an 1990 round frame with a messed up blade. I figured it might go better with the newer style blade. I had to lay the blade down just a tad. It locks up perfectly no blade movement whatsoever in any direction, and is very easy to flip out. I then decided to reduce the weight so i broke out the belt sander with 150 grit. Had to have my buddy hold it. I put the two dot beside the one i thinned out, to show how much was removed. They both were the same weight when i started. 6.6 oz. The converted one weighs 5.8 oz now. Big difference, feels lots better also. Enjoy and happy thanksgiving :)

Finished accept for buffing. Not sure if i will yet. Kinda going for the mild dinged up patina look but custom... Opinions???

Thanks David. I been wanting to do one for awhile. Mr.Desert Chris kinda pushed me into it. But it was time. :)

I like the dinged up user look,I've been wearing my 1969 110 all week, got to love the old ones.

The oldest 110 i have is a 2 dot, i like the old ones better. I just about put that blade in an old square frame.

Great conversion and pictures buckman110. Either way this knife would look great with either the roughed up look or with it all polished up.

All Buck knives are great, just some are better than others.

Well, i been thinking about polishing it up and leaving the dings and let it patina. Its sweet, i wish y'all could check it out and thanks gedlicks.

By the way, that old square frame 112 in the first pic on the right was my first 112. That knife has seen some adventures. Had it since i was about 10 :o

I like the blade/frame proportions the 482 blade gives compared to the 112's original, which I like, but which always looks a bit "shorty" to me. (I'm aware of the origin of the design, and "shorter blade" was part of the plan.) Well done!

Oh, and I'd leave it as is, then give it a critical look again after a month or two of regular use, and make a final decision.

Now where would Chris have gotten the idea to do that blade swap? :)

It does make for a sweet knife. I did this one earlier last year and gifted it to my nephew on his birthday. Being a 2 dot frame I had to replace the lockbar as well. So I think you made the right decision using the newer 112 for you project. Yours turned out nice. Great job!! :)

Yep.... from you!! Haha!

Here is mine :)

It's not too big of a deal to switch them out if you are replacing the scales too. I Already had mine completely apart so I put in the donor blade and lock bar. I probably would have done pinless scales if I had to do the project over again. But I think yours looks awesome with the original handle and scales. Kind of makes me want to tear my 112 down and make it fancy.

That 112 frame was in a $3 box at a local flea market with a wore out blade. I thinned it and it feels great.
