hey, does anyone have the specs on the buck 112 ranger? in particular, the blade thickness? metric units please!

Midget (I've never addressed anyone this way and not expected to get punched),

My Ranger (model 112) was produced in 2001, as per the date stamp. I can't say for sure, but I would be surprised if the specs have changed over the years.

The blade is 0.13 inches (0.33 centimeters) thick at the base and 3.25 inches (8.3 centimeters) long, including the ricasso. The overall length is 7.25 inches (18.42 centimeters). The grip is approximately 0.6 inches (1.52 centimeters) thick.

I don't have a scale handy, but I guess it weighs at least 12 ounces (340 grams). I hope this helps.

I've found the Ranger to be a FANTASTIC knife for the price. I personally carry it on a belt sheath; it strike me as too bulky for pocket carry, but that's just my opinion. As a belt knife, it's got the sturdiness of the larger 110 but in what (I hope) is a sheeple-friendly (or friendlier) size, at least in my area. By the way, I have the finger groove Ranger, which, again, in my opion is more comfortable than the "plain," although the plain's ergonomics are good -- better than the plain 110's ergos, I think.

If you want the utility of a Ranger but with less weight, you might look on eBay or similar auction sites for the Buck 422 Bucklite. The 422 is out of production but new ones come up for auction all the time. The 422 has a Ranger blade but a grip of thermoplastic rather than wood and brass.

Regards,

MG

much obliged, MG.

I've got a 112 on it's way to me now from eknifeworks.com.

Take care.
