Buck 112 dot placement

Check the top of the Buck subforum for a thread called 112 Ranger Data Sheet by Joe Houser.

Your knife is a Category IV v. 2. The three dots means that your knife has a blade pivot bushing, the addition of the nail nick, but still having the squared-off bolster edges means your knife is somewhere in the middle of the three dot era. I have a three dot with the dots low on the tang stamp like yours. I don't think that there's any significance to the dot placement other than a new tang stamp was used at some point. All the other three dots I have have the dots centered on the line. So, maybe the low dot knives are more scarce.
