Buck 112 Eagle Scout

In the past I thought anyone achieving Eagle Scout could receive an engraved 500.
I am not sure why the 500 Eagle Scout knife appears to have been discontinued. It was a subject of frustration for some customers as it seems to have been shown as a product for awhile but not in stock. I don't think it was ever free though. Was it?

I bought my dad a BSA 500 for Father’s Day about 15 years ago, engraved with his Eagle date and troop number, and his scoutmaster dates and troop. He earned his Eagle in 1966. I’ll have to ask him to take a picture of the knife next time we’re in to visit, but here’s his picture from Philmont in 1966.

It's not really the same organization anymore, sadly.

You could probably have a laser engraver reproduce the logo of Boy Scouts of America for you.

It's a good idea, though of course, I've got several BSA knives knocking around here in one of my chests. I occasionally keep an eye on the Bay for BSA knives and those in good condition tend to go fast, so for those wanting to grab one up, gotta be diligent.

That's an awesome photo! My son is about to rank up to Star in a few weeks and has his eyes set towards Eagle. He also really, really wants to go to Philmont but the troop voted for Sea Base as their next high adventure. Next time.

He's not too keen on 110's or 112's. He has a Vantage that he takes camping, and a Spitfire that that doesn't get quite as much pocket time. We'll probably get him one of those if he makes Eagle. I'm glad Buck offers a few options.

I was an Eagle Scout too, back in March of 1969; this picture from Scout Camp in the summer of 1969, I was on the camp staff. There were no Eagle Scout knives back then, only the standard BSA Scout Knives and Sheath Knives. I had a Scout pocketknife and a Western Black Beauty sheath knife. I was a Scout leader for many years, wish them the best, but they are simply not the same Scouting as it was in my youth - glad for what we had back then.

Nice! Did you have a camp name, or were you always Old Hunter? There was a guy at summer camp the past couple years named Leatherman. He always had one handy. (He wasn't the only one with a leatherman, but he got the name.) Another staff was Cool Whip because of something that happened in the dining hall years earlier.

Actually I think camp names were from another era or region. A few folks had nicknames but I didn't. Camp Bonner was the camp, it first opened in 1969, so I was a charter staff member. Been back to a couple of staff reunions over the years. Old Hunter is an internet forum name I use on hunting forums (and knife forums).

This thread started out as a BSA/Eagle Scout Buck 112 knife thread. Besides the Buck 500 DUKE, are there any other Buck Knives with the BSA marks? These are the only two I can think of.

Thanks for the links to the current knives and the reminder of the old 422 (I actually own one from a NOAC!) OH
