Been thinking of picking up one of these in the green paperstone for work EDC. I have a regular version 112 it is just a little heavy in pocket for me. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they worth the money? Pics are always a plus! Just curious if anyone else has EDC'ed one of these for any matter of time. Thanks in advance!

I have a customized on with a 442 drop point blade. I also have a 112 and used to have <sniff> a Buck 500.

IMO, the Buck 500 is the best of the 3, by far.

I generally prefer drop point blades over clips. I can cope with the 112 blade though. For some reason, it just looks right. But at the end of the day, I prefer the blade on the 500 over the 112.

The 500 is thinner and to me, that's what wins. Given a choice between the still heavy but thin 500 and the light but boxy Ecolite 112, I would choose the 500. And regularly did until it pocket ejected this past spring.

So, my 112 classic and Ecolite 112 sit around basically unused and I've not replaced the 500 yet.

Why? My Ecolite, my 112 and Bucklite Max Large and Medium lockbacks all developed vertical blade play. I've since move to carrying an Opinel #9 and find the flat ground blade to cut better than the hollow ground Buck blades in most situations and I've found the Vibrolock mechanism to be more durable (by far) than the Buck lockback. Buck will need to earn me back as a customer at this point and they have a way to go.

But, if I were to try them again, it would be with a 500. Easily my favorite Buck.

The Ecolite 112 is a really nice option, IMO. The Paperstone material feels good in the hand, and is very strong. And, the 112 is just about a perfect mid-size lockback design, if you ask me; the weight savings makes it much easier to slip into your back pocket, instead of feeling like you wished you were using the belt sheath. ;)

I recently bought one. Very nice solid knife, blade centered perfectly and a great lock and snap.
If you remember the Bucklites of the 80's, it kind of reminds me of a newer and improved Bucklite. The handle seems tougher than the old plastic and it has partial liners where the old Bucklites didn't. Very well made for the price. I've sent 1 Buck in in the past that was dropped with the blade open and broke with a letter telling them to bill me what it cost to fix it, and they sent me back the knife with a new blade and a discount card for a future purchase at no charge. They really do take care of their customers.

I like mine and will make a point to use it every now and then because it feels great and I just like the 112. But I usually end up grabbing something a little smaller to carry and I've come to realize that I just prefer pocket knives less than 4" for most occasions lately.
