Buck 112 question

I bought a Buck 112 at a gun show last weekend, it's tang stamp is BUCK / ..112>. / U.S.A. I can't find any information on a stamp like that. Can anyone help me with this one? Thanks!

That is a 1987 year mark I believe to have been stamped on a leftover blade remaining from the 4 dot run from 1981-1985. If that is so, the blade would not have been heat treated until after the year mark symbol was stamped. Perhaps when Joe returns, he can add to this. Paul Bos may remember also and he sometimes posts on this forum.
I am sorry I cannot be more definite in answering your question. By the way, is the blade mirror polished? I suspect it might be a gold etched blade because I have seen more gold etch blades than standard satin finished blades with this stamping.

I'll agree with Larry, that is the info I recall for that tang stamp. I have 2, and both are standard satin finish.

Thank you for the answer to my question. This knife also has the satin finish. I bought this knife to sell, should I hang on to it? I do collect Buck knives and I like unusual marks. Is this one common or scarce?
