Buck 112 Ranger Drop Point

I got one in early February (middle knife) and no, it does not have the 50th Anniversary stamp.

It is hard to get reliable information on this. Online chat with Buck told me the drop point 112 knife would have the anniversary stamp. I don't want to risk spending the money to find out. As indicated by Railsplitter above, that information from Buck seems to be incorrect. Buck has already filled an order I made this year for a 112 but sent me old inventory with last years tang stamp, not the anniversary stamp. I think Buck is missing a sales opportunity not offering all 112 variations with the 50th anniversary stamp like they did with the 110 and 119 anniversary knives. In 2017 all the 119's that I ordered thru the Custom Shop had 75th tang stamps.

I don’t think it unusual. 20 years ago during the 100 year anniversary I accumulated many 110s. Some from the year before had the 100 year medallion. Some with the 2002 tang stamp didn’t have the medallion, then some have the 2003 tang stamp with the medallion.

I suppose it would stand to reason that Buck would not want to scrap any blades if they can help it. Nor would they want to make additional blades for a current year if the next year's blades are already made. Can't say that I blame them, I guess.

I should have a 112 from the Custom Shop coming in a couple months or less. I do hope that the blade has the stamp but I will only be mildly disappointed if it doesn't.

I just received my custom shop 112. It has the standard etched bladeFC75DFAA-0F96-4D56-90FE-F7A998FB69AA.jpeg

I thought this might be interesting considering the topic. I got this 1991 Buck 112 back from the Spa today. Buck determined that the severe blade play was due to a worn tang so I asked Buck to go ahead and replace the blade. Since the tang is part of the blade, it was the only way to eliminate the severe play.

The new blade has the 50th Anniversary Stamp.
