Hello everyone!

For the last decade or so, I’ve been daily carrying various Benchmade autos, with a Stimulus in my pocket on most days, and swapping it out for a CLA when I need something a tiny bit more beefy.

I’m looking to add a manual knife to the rotation, and I am really fond of the lock back design. I don’t want anything larger than about a 3” blade.

I narrowed down my search to the standard saber grind Spyderco Delica and the newer Buck 112 slim pro TRX.

I’m torn between the two:

-The Delica has steel liners, but the Buck is g10, which should be plenty strong. The Buck also now has a screw assembly for adjustments.

-The Buck has a deep carry clip, which I prefer, but they are also available for the Delica, although with an added cost.

-The Buck’s steel is better (s30v vs. vg-10), but both would be adequate enough for EDC.

-I’m not into customizing or modding, so the available extras for the Delica don’t matter to me.

-I have had great experience with Buck’s customer service, but never with Spyderco’s; I assume Spyderco also has decent CS?

I handled both, and both had a great feel, so I’m stuck on the fence!

Anyone have any strong feelings one way or the other???

*I’m only interested in these two since I want to buy from my local shop.

I don’t know about the spyderco but I do know that the Buck 112 slim trx is a great knife and it’s plenty tough.

Buck's customer service is beyond outstanding. Spyderco, on the other hand, has dropped the ball several times with me. Spyderco makes a good product, except when they don't. Make sure you're happy with their knife before you use it, because they might not help you much, if it develops problems.

Hilarious, the difference between this forum and Reddit. I saw this asked over there, and it was overwhelmingly in favor of the Delica, likely due to Spyderco fervor on Reddit. I own 25+ Spydies, the most of any knife brand, but dude... even I went Buck on this one. Whereas on this forum, yet to be one Delica vote.

I like both brands and have quite a few knives from both companies. I would say, without hesitation, Buck on this one.

On this one buck, but the delica is great too. I kind of want to try the trx myself. I just prefer the lock up on the Spyderco lock backs. The release on the buck lock backs is not as one hand friendly near the butt of the handle.

I would've say Spyderco if it was against the 1st gen gen Buck slim pro, which uses pins instead of screws therefore no easy tuning.
The Buck 112 slim TRX is what I would have got if I didn't get the pristine 2nd hand Benchmade the other day.

both are solid choices, but I lean towards Buck due to made in America, and I like Bucks s30v steel heat treatment. also I prefer Bucks backlock.

The Buck is a fine knife for sure, but I'd pick the Delica for ease of operation.. much, much easier to close one-handed.. something I prefer that may or may not matter to Nephron haha
