Hello all I was hoping that some of the Buck knife collectors could help me. I just found my old Buck 112. It has no nail hole and has one dot on either side of the 112. Thanks for any info. John

your 112 was made somewhere between1974-1980.it's in category III 112 and there are four versions in this category.
thats all I can tell you without knowing more about the specifics.

It is a plain edge blade and smooth handle (not finger groove). It has three brass pens for the inlay, and one s.s. rivit in the middle. I think this is what you mean by specifics, if not please correct me. The tang marks read BUCK .112. U.S.A. any info on the blade material and wood used for inlays would be greatly appriciated Thanks for the info. John

howdy john, welcome to the forum!
with three brass pins and 2 dots it is dated most likely 1980 but could be 79. in 79 they switched from 2 pins to 3 and for a very short time there were 4 pins tho most were 2 pins for 79. in 81 the blades went to *112**. the blade in your 112 is made of the legendary 440 steel that is hard to sharpen. the 112 was introded in 1970.

John, the inlay is macasar ebony.a question how large are the brass inlay rivets.(ie) about 1/16 or 1/8.
the version I have has 1/8 brass inlay rivets and was the last type two dot made before going to the three dot.hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. The brass inlay rivets were smooth to the wood inlays, the only one that raised up off the wood was the SS pen and I am not sure what the lenght was. The wood inlays were a good bit thicker then the current prodiction 110. I do not have my 110 or 112 as this monment. I sent them to buck for repair. They have the best customer service. Every one is polite when you call with a question. ok sorry for the long thread. Thanks again John
