Buck 113 on the cover of the new Field and Stream Outdoorsmand Manual

I had a couple of new ones but never used them. Sold both on one of the main auction sites. I can tell you they are light weight compared to many skinners. IMOA I did not like the handle as it seemed a little small. There is not much guard if the blade should get to bloody which could cause a nasty cut. Others may well feel the knife is great. I just prefer a heavier knife with a handle I can get a good grip on when skinning a deer. But when it is all over and done my 110 works as good as any knife I have ever skinned with.
But the old saying for this knife is just like everything else "as the man kissed the cow." In other words, everyone has an opinion of what they like or dislike.
Best advice is try to find one in a store and ask to play with it. Touch it feel it and above all hold it. They aren't that much in price.

Yeah, I have that book, and thought it was a nice touch. Still I'd like to see the 113 with the Paul Bos logo on the side of the blade, along with 154CM, or s30V.

That model looks good on the cover and I like 154cm steel. But the Boss logo we've come to trust is way out dated as he's been retired from Buck for years now. Yet, I wonder why they are still using that logo. DM

I've wondered the same thing. It's respectful nonetheless, I guess. Still I think the 113 would be an excellent model for the custom shop. The scales, could be substituted, and bolsters could be offered in nickel. Glad to see it getting publicized.

Yes, perhaps it's like a familiar emblem that expresses a high standard of heat treating. Like a job well done... Which people expect to see on a Buck product like the 113. DM

I saw this book with my sweet Buck #113 on it not too long ago in town.

I did not read this book but I thought that the Buck knife looked nice on it!
