Just like I listed the Buck 212s, I'd like to make a similar list for the 117s. I only want to include those knives which have part numbers from Buck. Not the customs. I am aware of many customs made by Joe Houser and others. Checking this list for errors and omissions would be greatly appreciated. I did look at the 117 Club thread but it is rare there that the part numbers were shown.

Is there any chance you can add the production years to your data?

Bert
Yes, I thought about that about half way through. I am going to have to do it all over again, because I didn't write most of them down. Most of them are SFOs, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Are you sure this isn't 2017?
are you looking at the blade or the box? Because I was looking at the box, along with the part number. do you have a box with 2017 on it? maybe they made more than one run. I did find a box with the 0117BKSSH part number on it with a 2020 date, so I'd believe that.

Edit: the reason I don't trust looking at just the blade is that they started making the blades in 2015. So, in theory, any of these later releases could have old blade inventory in them.

I'll have to dig the box out. In 2017, Copper and Clad, which I think is part of Shepherd of the Hills, did a run of the 117, which I think they called the "Small Special". The first 100 knives were serialized. I have #18 of 100 and that was in February, 2017. The rest of the knives, over 100, were not serialized. It may take me a day, a week, or a month to locate the box. The information I posted above was from the Special Projects list for knives produced in 2017. The knife I have has a date code of 2015, but I don't think it was released until 2017. It's always good to have information that confuses the issue.

I'm just not seeing any Black Phenolic ones on the 2017 special projects list. I did miss one though. I see 0117GYSSH - Charcoal Dymalux (President's Tour) on that list.

It takes you a month to locate the box? I thought I had a problem. :)

Are you sure the "CC" doesn't stand for "Copper and Clad" instead of "cocobolo"?

This is my black phenolic 117 purchased from C&C on February 12, 2017. The first 100 knives were serialized. I'll look for the box tomorrow.

You owe me. I looked for the box tonight. Here it is.

So, the question is, is this another SFO batch, or was it available continuously up to 2021? I suspect C&C made at least two batches. Also, this is another example of the special projects list not being accurate. I feel like I'm an archaeologist, trying to piece fossil remains of previous Buck releases together. I only believe the date if it is in the catalog, price list, newsletter, special project list, COA, or I see it on the box. Most pictures on the internet of 117s do not show the box or at least where the date is stamped. And I only have a fraction of these releases myself. So I am appreciative if someone shows me the box and we can confirm the dates. In this case, I'm going to show two 100 batch releases, since I have seen pictures of the box for this part number for the 2020-2021 time frame too.
