Buck 119 blade play?

Welcome to the Buck forum and sorry you are not happy with your knife. No, it is not normal. Lifetime warranty but not sure how that works being in Russia, easy if you live in the US. Just curious, is it loose up & down or sideways?

Hello thanks for the nice welcome! Im living in the states now so that's not problem. And the play is side to side.

It does not bother me I was just wondering if there's a safety concern.

Hard to say, if it's just a loose handle, NO. If the tang is broken inside the handle I would say YES, but that would be pretty hard to do I would think as the tang is one piece with the blade. Only you can judge what stress the knife has been subjected to such as a prybar.

I have the same problem with my 25 anniversary 124. I plan to take it with me to the next anniversary celebrations at Post Falls in 2018 for repair.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the guard and pommel are supposed to be silver welded to the blade right? I ask because I had an old 119 where the black phenolic rattled a little. I bartered it off years ago.

My suggestion is to send it in for repair whether it's a safety issue or not. If it's loose it's not sealed, if you get water in there and it freezes, then what?

No, guard and pommel are not weldet to blade and tang.

I don't think it is a safety issue. But it sucks. And yes, it is the best way to send the knife to Buck.

I had a similar problem with a 118. Blade play sounds a bit weird bit it is an appropriate term if you've experienced it. A few years on the problem is still apparent but hasn't got any worse. Annoying and shouldn't happen but unlikely to be a safety issue.

The guard on a 119 or other 100 series models is not welded to the blade. The guard on a 124 is silver soldered to the blade. I purchased a one line 120 that was loose like you describe and what fixed it was super glue in and around that guard. DM
