I'm just wondering if anyone knows how the hand guard on the Buck 119 is designed, like is it just glued onto the handle or is there some sort of anchor that goes down into the handle? Also, have you ever heard of it getting loose?

its a friction fit to the blade tang. First the guard, then the handle itself, then the pommel- which is pinned in place; holding all three.

The handgard is pressed between the blade and the phenolic handle & yes sometime you can get a bad one with loose handgard it happened to me twice.

The pommel is pinned like the ka-bar usmc

The part of my guard closest to the blade wiggled a little bit , so I wicked some crazy glue between it and the black spacer , and no more play.

So it sounds like if the guard is loose, it would be because it was made that way or hit very, very hard, denting the blade or the inside of the guard, thus widening the space between the blade and the guard, which makes it loose.
