Found an old 119 in the basement cleaning up. Bought it way back in 1997? Used a couple times but I never did like the grip; too slippery and that blasted hook at the end drove me crazy. Ground off pommel hook and sandblasted grip. Ground off upper part of guard so I can choke up. Like it a bunch now.

Anyhow, I've seen some folks complain about the same so I though I'd share.

Nice work. I took some 120? grit sandpaper to the handle to rough it up a little and just doing that gives a better grip when working on deer. I've thought of grinding the top of the guard off but haven't done it yet. What do you use yours for hunting, woods walking, other?

Now I'm going to use it for hunting/general farm work I hated that pommel hook cause it made it hard to hold edge up when skinning. That's why it got put up for so long. Feels good in the hand now. The sandblasting really gives it a micartatype grip.

I like the quillons on the Special but I also like what you've done with yours. Looks all business, like a
theater knife, something carried in Burma perhaps, for night work. Please come back and let this thread know
how it works out on it's appointed rounds.
