Same steel (s35vn), same price (~$200), both USA made. Which one's better?

Both are nice but I like the look of the SOG more, but depends what it used for, the Buck blade is an inch longer, I like the SOGs lack of a guard and the jimping on it if you want to choke up on it, looks more practical for the stuff I would use it for (camping type knife) I also like the coated blade, not sure how long it would last with heavy use but it does add to it

When TSHTF, you can spray engine manifold paint (black) on it. Just don’t cover the edge you’ll be sharpening. Depending upon the ”type“ of usage, this coating should last for years.

Or, you can spend twice as much on the White River/Todd Begg Recondo. USA made, same steel, same relative size, kydex sheath. In my opinion, it's what the Pillar wishes it was.....
On the other hand, I got my Recondo for half price, as a factory second. So, not exactly apples to apples, but close enough.....

Better at what. How you plan to use the knife will have a large part in determining which is better. The SOG has a full tang, and saber grind. It is probable better for prying and battening. Buck,s hollow ground edge 2000, is probably better for slicing and other normal cutting. It might be easier to sharpen also.
