Hi guys, I recently got this buck 119 special and I noticed there seemed to be little gabs where the blade and handle meet. Is this because it’s in the s30v model? Or is this normal to all bucks? Or is this one already falling apart? Lol thanks

I've seen worse, but yes, it's "normal".
Someone will come along and explain the particular dynamics better than I can I'm sure.

These are production knives and they will have some minor gaps. I would expect a custom hand made to be much better but would also cost a lot more money. The small gaps do not effect the performance.

This made me look at my 120 and it has the same also. Wow! I would have never noticed, good to know it is normal.

This was the worst new Buck I ever received It went back and Buck fixed it

If it’s just normal gaps like the one in the OP. I fill it with JB Weld just to keep gunk out. You can see it on this Western.

Obviously silver solder would be best, but at Bucks price point you cannot expect that level of quality.

Remember that they're mass produced and made for this to be an easy thing to do.
My 119 is like this and nice and tight, so is my 102.
My 212 was also like this, and the guard was not easy to remove when I rehandled it so i can say confidently that it's not an issue.

If I remember correctly the gap like this continues to the handle and pommel, my guess is for air escape when gluing during assembly.

I remember that one. worst I've ever seen. good side is we can easily see the radiused 90s at the tang.;) glad they fixed that one. beautiful knife and great steel, deserved proper fixing. I'm pretty tolerant of finish issues, but that one I would have gotten fixed also.

Yes it came back perfect. No big deal. Buck has great customer service. I had a couple other worn out knives that went back at the same time. So shipping didn’t cost me anything extra. No harm no foul.

Joshua, renaissance wax is a good option. Coat the blade and the excess should fill the gap. Will need to be reapplied every so often. But will help keep out crud and moisture.

Th
Work a little JB weld in the crack with a toothpick. Then wipe the excess of. Works for me.
Thanks everyone for the feedback - looking on Amazon there are so many different versions of JB Weld, and with its fast setting does any of it again the guard of the knife? Thanks again. Can you recommend a specific one on Amazon?
