Buck 119 Special legality in NY State (not NYC)

I live in NYS, about 30-50 minutes from Pennsylvania. The title pretty much says it all. I am 14 at the moment and was wondering if the Buck 119 Special model (seen here:http://www.amazon.com/Buck-119BKS-Spec-Hunting-6/dp/B000EHWWJQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8) would be legal to carry openly. I was curious as if this knife would be defined as a "dangerous knife" like the NYS laws prohibit, but they don't necessarily describe what a dangerous knife is by their definition. I'd mostly just carry it for convenience, as a tool, and for when I go hunting. I was wondering if I'd get hassled by the police who often patrol my neighbourhood (strangely a good one) because of either my age, or the knife being "dangerous". I really am considering buying this knife with the money I've saved up for the past few weeks, but I was wondering what you guys thought/or know about a knife like this and how the police would respond to open carry.
If the police do determine the knife to be "dangerous" (more air-quotes), from what I understand, I would be classified as a delinquent. I have no intention for using this as a weapon (unless faced with an incredibly, incredibly extreme situation, of course). Just curious as to how this might work out for me.

IMO, you'd be asking for trouble by open carrying that "in town"...partially due to your age, but also due to the size.

Here is the State law:

S 265.05 Unlawful possession of weapons by persons under sixteen.
It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of sixteen to
possess any air-gun, spring-gun or other instrument or weapon in which
the propelling force is a spring or air, or any gun or any instrument or
weapon in or upon which any loaded or blank cartridges may be used, or
any loaded or blank cartridges or ammunition therefor, or any dangerous
knife; provided that the possession of rifle or shotgun or ammunition
therefor by the holder of a hunting license or permit issued pursuant to
article eleven of the environmental conservation law and used in
accordance with said law shall not be governed by this section.
A person who violates the provisions of this section shall be
adjudged a juvenile delinquent.

There Maybe local laws too.....I would suggest you get a normal folding knife that can not flick open until you get older. If you carry the some what large knife you are thinking of getting, police will take notice of you, and other teens will have cause to give you issues they otherwise would not do. That would possibly lead to a world of problems. In today's world just think a small, non weapon type pocket knife for now...

Worth mentioning is NYS law doesn't make any distinction between open carry and concealed carry. If the knife is "dangerous" per law, its illegal to carry period. So if you choose to take the risk of carrying this knife, concealed is recommended. Openly carried knives are in plain sight and thus invite any cop you encounter to make a judgement call on the knife's legality. If concealed, you have to do something that creates reasonable suspicion of a a crime before police are permitted to search you and find said knife.

Now that said, I would still go with a non-weapon folding pocket knife. Why create more legal risk than necessary, especially at the age of 14 when judgement is not always the best?

Okay, thanks guys . :) Guess you have a point there about the open carrying. I appreciate all the replies. I live on the edge of the city, nearer the woods and not all that close to what's really considered "in town" around here. I do enjoy Buck knives and was looking to get a FB to carry, but I agree with there'd be less to risk and worry about with just a traditional folder. Also you guys respond rather fast on here! :D

(Not sure if double posting is an issue on here on the forums ) But another statement I had read said that as long as the knife is legal to own, it can be concealed as long as it wasn't fixed bladed knife. This might just be a bunch of baloney but I recall seeing that somewhere D:
