Buck 119 Special

lol, you meant to say it's the best value for the $?

sure, for a larger fixed blade, it's hard to beat the 119 since they're only about $60

these days, I find a 6" blade a bit much, my usual fixed blade is about 4.6"

I hear ya. I normally carry a Esee 4. yea 6 is little large it but for some folks with a real limited budget good way to get in.

Best $50 you can spend at Wal-Mart, that's for damn sure (well, IMO at least). Perfect if you find yourself away from home and in need of a fixed blade. I picked one up there earlier this year when I was on a trip for 6 weeks and an impromptu camping trip popped up. For the money I'd say it's hard to beat, and up to any task I'll need it for.

Totally agree and what great photos. Buck and Mora can do anything and everything for significantly less $$.

Classic it is, can’t beat the knife/price ratio either.

I still can’t find where I packed my original 119 that was decades old, and I loved carrying and using that knife too (the old style sheath was way better IMHO).

Once Knives&Lint Knives&Lint posted pictures of his and his camping story last February, the memories all came back and I went ahead and just bought another 119. Just temporarily of course, to fill in for my original that will turn back up again one of these days.

Thanks again for jogging my memories guys.

Picture of my new 119 back in February.

Not to mention you can snag one at almost any walmart, hardware store or gun shop. Even people who prefer higher $$ knives would prob default to a buck in a pinch if they needed a replacement right away.

Agreed, its a classic for good reason. I picked this used one up for $30, I have no idea how old it is, and the blade had been ground totally uneven by some clown with a grinder. I reworked the edge and its GTG now.

Really nice knife 👍
Is it just my area, southern MA/RI, or do most Walmart’s not carry knives anymore?
They always had a little section of Kershaws, bucks, Gerbers etc....no more

The 3 Walmarts i am near in NC all have good knife displays. Some are better stocked than others. They are slowly eliminating ammo and rifles. I guess up north knives are on the chopping block no pun intended. Watch the tool dept, hammers and sharp screw drivers will be next. Lol
