Greetings, I have a new Buck 119 Special the 100th year aniversery (1902-2002), nothing special about the knife, except what I described. My question is this: is this knife worth holding on too? I am a knife user, dont realy know much about collecting, so I am trying to learn as I go ( looking to collect ). Any input would be apreciated.

I think these were fairly common; anyone who wanted one could buy one easily. Even I have one... You certainly won't lose money on it, and it'll be more desirable than a plain 119. But I don't think it'll ever be super-valuable.

My generic advice: If you bought it to use, go for it. If you bought it to collect, trade, sell, or hand down, then set it aside to retain it's value.

Personally, mine is set aside, along with 99% of my other knives (almost literally 99%; I use 2/170).

I like that, a simple plan ,but to the point. :) Thanks.

I think that Bob W has summed it up pretty well. I have one as well. The 119 is one of my favorite knives.

Something of interest to note, some of these were produced with yellow spacers in the handle instead of the traditional maroon which would make the ones with the yellow spacers a little more unique.

That I did not know, any reason for using the yellow? The one I currently have has the yellow spacers.
