Question? Can anyone out there in cyberspace tell me how a Buck 119 is made? I mean is it full tang, How strong is this knife and is there a chance the handle could come apart? Or off?....How strong is the knife. Thanks.

Been a whole bunch of those made and an awful lot of satisfied customers. I don't remember reading any thread complaining about the handle failing. It should be plenty strong for you. I've had one for almost 40 years. Still works for me.

To get specific answers on the construction of a Buck 119, you might ask this on the Buck forum, here:

The knife is plenty strong. Full stick tang, Ka-bar uses the same deal. Its beet a good known knife, I personally have never heard of a handle breaking, And wouldn't believe It unless I see it happen. The blade would go first.

Check out Cliff Stamp's Cutlery Science site for a really hard core review of the 119.
It is one of my favourite cheaper knives and makes a great fighter.

they're strong knives. the only problem i have ever had with the 119's is if you use them to do a lot of "chopping" on heavy stuff, the blade guard starts coming loose and the layers start getting miss-alligned. see, the guard is actually three layers. the first is aluminum, then a piece of micarta or something similar, and then another piece of aluminum. if you look close you see the layers. ive seen this happen on more than just one knife. this doesnt stop the knife from functioning, just doesnt make it look as pretty as before. i suspect if one kept usuing the knife for a long time as a heavy chopper the guard pieces MIGHT, notice i said might, actually get loose enough to start rattling. but that would take extreme abuse if it ever did happen.,,VWB.
