I have a Buck 120 (I think going by the sheath markings) that says 190/500 and has a white deer head inlaid in the handle. I am wondering if I should just use it or is it collectible? I'm not a knife guy so please pardon my ignorance.
Thanks for any help

This? It was a series of knives that ran from 2006 to 2014. This one is 2013.
The handle is Buffalo horn and I believe the inlay is bone.

See this thread for more information.
Yes that looks to be the one.

Can you tell me if the blade part of the blade looks like chips are out of the steel and darkened? Is the deer head in the handle white?

If so, it could be a highly collectable limited edition 120, made in 2013, it is called the 120 Buffalo General (the black handle is Water Buffalo horn, 500 of them made, the blade etch 190/500 means it's #190 out of the 500 made.

Never mind Roger beat me to the answer, LOL, my wife was talking to me before I could finished typing!

Can you tell me the approximate value? It's in new, unused condition. I'm not a collector at all mainly just wanting a good USA made hunting knife.

Value discussion is limited by membership level. Can't discuss that unless you're a paying member.

That being said, checking the auction sites for past sales may provide the answer.

Curious, what you might be hunting that you need such a big blade. Can I come?

Ok I'll check the auction sites.

Do not need a blade that long. Just what I had laying around. I think I'd prefer a 119 or even smaller. Lately all I hunt is whitetails but you're welcome to join.

I appreciate the offer!!

If you're open to suggestions for a terrific whitetail blade, the 118 is hard to beat. The blade is about the same height as your finger is wide, so it's very easy to control in those hard to reach places. It's a great length with plenty of belly.

A 110 would be my next choice for deer. If speculate that just as many deer that have fallen to the .30-30 have been field dressed with a 110.

My first Buck, which i bought as my first hunting knife was a 619. It's a 119 with a rubber handle.
I was shown how to field dress without splitting the pelvis and quickly retired the 619 for a 110 (actually a 560), then found the 118.
I still have that 619 somewhere, but its hunting days are over.

The OP knife is worth enough money to suggest handling it only with cotton gloves, wiping it with a lightly oiled cloth and putting it in protected place. It is not one to be used, if one should take my meaning.
The 118, 121, 105, 117 and 102 are all very useful knives. In my opinion the 119, 120 and 124 are not.
