I saw a buck 120 in a local pawn shop today. Sorry no pics, it was probably
95% and the sheath was about 95% also. The asking price is 60.00, was this a decent deal, or sould it be lower? Any help would be great.

thanks,
junoir

Not bad if it's an older one... :D ... But you can buy a new one at Cabelas for 59.99... ... Buck Pro-Line General .....:D ....

Alot would depend on the tang stamp as well. If its a BUCK only stamp or BUCK USA I would buy it up ;)
$60.00 isnt too bad for a newer one either, it doesnt have the Pro line etch right? :D

Junoir, If it's 95 % I would get it too. I have seen them for more than that at Gun shows and flea markets.:D

I've bid over 70 on the bay and not got another one. I love the ca. 1969 one I have and paid $16.50 for it back in the day.

Junior, If it is stamped, BUCK 120 USA I'd buy it, quick! If its stamped the same manner and has >, <, ^, v, +, -, / for year dates. I'd ask him "whats your best price on it"? He'll probably drop it $10 and I'd still buy it. If its stamped w/ a newer year date your call. I already some of those. If you don't own a Buck 120 and like it go get a 50 dollar bill, pull it out and pop it twice, lay it on the counter and say I'll treat you right for that 120! And look at him smiling to see what he'll say. Thats just me. For I like to have fun! DM

Nobody else has mentioned...was it an aluminum pommel/guard, or a brass pommel/guard??? Did the sheath have a flap on it??? Did it look like it was sharpened with a piece of concrete???

How many grip spacers, and what color???

Lots of questions...

That price is about what a new aluminum pommel/guard 120 goes for...if you know where to buy knives online... ;)

(It's $62.50 actually...+ $5 S&H)

I'd pass on the pawn shop, and buy online...

Yep, what Mr. CT said. But, as also stated, by the others in this herd and the specifcs of the negotiation by Mr DM, if it does not have any other tang marking on it...get it. You might even be able to get it cheaper if you take a print out of an on-line ad that has 'em new for about the same price as the one you're looking at. Just don't tell the store dude that he may be selling you an older model (presuming it has no date code marking on it).

If it has any date code, I would get a new one where you can buy knives online ;) ;)

Keep us posted. Get a 120 though...you won't be disappointed :)

And if you do buy knives online, think about picking up a Buck 119 Special, too...It's only $49.35... ;)

(Hmmm...They have a Buck Muskrat for only $17.99...)

Like has been said, the sheath can also tell the age. If it is a flap type sheath, it is a knife to get. I have two three line 120's and one has the black flat type sheath and the other has a heavy brown sheath labled 120-s custom on the back (both from the bay). The $50 bill is a good idea.
