Hey Guys,

I have a buck 110 in S35VN that I love. I want to team up a larger Buck fixed blade with it for camping and backpacking. Do you like the 124, 120 or 119? Unfortunately, there are no stores in my area to handle the 120 or 124 so I am looking for your opinion if you have used all 3 of these knives.

Thanks,

Geoff

I like the 119 myself. I prefer its size for most uses.

the 120 isn't a lot different than the 119 just more blade.

the 124 has a thick and blocky handle. its not a real comfortable knife for longer using....unless one has size XXL mitts. the guard is on the larger size as well. I like the knife and its perfect for some, but I prefer a 119 given those choices.

I agree, the 119 is plenty large enough for most outdoor activities. I have all three,119,120 and 124. Occasionally I could use the 120 or 124 but nothing I couldn’t do with the 119. In the kitchen or butchering is where the larger blades are nice. Fact is I prefer a 4.5 inch blade for camping, fishing and hunting. Like the 117 small special or the 104 compadre for general all around usage and they aren’t cumbersome or as heavy. I’d rather have a camp hatchet than a large blade.

I like the 124 because, Well just because I like it. But I have never used it. For camping or backpacking, I have never needed more than my 110. Actually I don't even need it, But i take it anyway. A Swiss Army Tinker is all I really need.

O.B.

124 is my choice. Better build quality and a blade size that works for me. Plus a lot nicer sheath. The blocky handle leaves plenty of material to work with, or find one of the older ones.

The 124 would be my choice if I had only one knife. The 119 is much loved as well, especially for handling larger game, ie deer, etc. I am not a fan of the 120, the extra blade length seems like overkill.
The 124's handle is a bit blocky, but has never caused me any concern and I am not a big fella. Copper and Clad had a special run of 124s last year with a slimmer/rounded handle and made with 5160 steel which is just about as tough a steel as one would ever need. Lots of options for either the 119 or the 124.

The 124 is a heavy with that full tang build. Makes it indestructible imo. 119 is a great choice too. I got the General because, well just because. It really feels like a small sword lol.
