These have been advertised as limited to 2012 production, but some site still are showing that shipments are due in. Is this really no longer in production, seeing as it's 2013, or is it staying in production, or what's the story?

I believe the sales response to the knife was much greater than Buck originally expected, you don't discontinue something that's selling well. I wish they would do some "colored" handles so I'd have an excuse to buy more. Like each year offer it in a different colored micarta.... green, yellow, red, burgundy, blue, tan.... repeat sales for years...;)

deSoto I think you have hit the nail on the head. i also think it would drive sales greatly if Buck offered the 124 in differend color handles. cost couldn't be that much.

In 2012 it was shown in the separate "Legacy Collection" catalog but they moved it to the hunting section of the regular catalog for this year.

They've kept the same model number (0124BKSLE-B) With "LE" being normally used just for Limited Editions's, I wonder if it will still be considered an LE and come in the two piece, black Limited Edition box?

I'm with you on the handle options. I would buy at least two of each different handle options if they were out there for new models.
