I like big Bucks and I cannot lie. I have really taken an interest in the Buck 124, but the black micarta handles do not do it for me. I would really like a 124 with cocobolo handles like the one below. In doing some image searching, it looks like Buck made the 124 with cocobolo handles in the late 1990s and recently with a Copper & Clad special in 2019. I didn't find anything in between 1997 and 2019. Any guesses when Buck may produce one like this again? I have not been around long enough to know if Buck will make a variant, discontinue it, and then make it again a couple of years later. Does Buck usually rotate the available handles every few years? I don't want to "settle" for a micarta handle only to have Buck release the cocobolo version next year. Any historical insights into how Buck handles changing blade steel, handles, and guards and pommels would be appreciated.

I would not count on Buck to make a run of 124's with a handle you like. It would be a very very long time if ever. So keep a eye on the bay and other likely places. If you do find a nice Elk Stag or even the rare MOP know that it will NOT be cheep. Finding one NIB with paperwork and shieth is much harder. But is a worthy quest. All fancy handled 124's are a Trophy Bucks and in the rarest of the rare (think serrations) money/price is not the issue. There just isn't many to find.
